The Spalding Fire Department received a call from 911 of a house fire on steel road about 3 am Monday Morning. Upon arrival firefighters began attacking the fire and was able to bring the blaze under control and saving the remainder of the home. the fire cause moderate damage. There were no injuries reported from the fire from the home’s occupants or firefighters.
At 6:01 AM the fire department again was called to another house fire at the Amberwood Subdivision to a vacant home on Hallmark Drive. Firefighters report the blaze could be seen from highway 92 and highway 91/41. The home was a total loss and again was not occupied. Lamar County has been conducing an intensive investigation into several house fires that are the work of an arsonist.
